OMISTA’s beginnings are rooted in our history with CN and date back to 1938. Incorporated as the Moncton Shops (CN) Credit Union, it served workers of the CN repair shops providing day-to-day financial services.

 

CN was largely responsible for Moncton's phenominal economic growth and development throughout most of the 1900s. The Canadian railway system has changed but continues to fulfill the important role of linking people to the world by transporting the goods that stimulate our economy.

 

This same application of experience and ingenuity allowed OMISTA to create a credit union and develop financial solutions for all Monctonians. In 1970, we opened an exciting new chapter in our history.  Moncton Shops (CN) Credit Union members voted to provide full financial services to all residents of our region and adopted a new name ~ OMISTA Credit Union.

Today, we operate in an industry experiencing the fastest rate of change. This is due to constantly evolving regulation requirements, technology enhancements and developments. These have a meaningful impact on all Credit Union owners ~ providing them with greater access to simple, total banking solutions that allow them to focus on the enjoyment of living life.
